Mayo is dominated by four of the great western lakes Conn, Cullin, Carra and Mask all of which have long established reputations as producers of quality wild brown trout. In addition to these major fisheries, the county has numerous smaller lakes and rivers which offer a wide variety of trout fishing. These vary from small mountain lakes, in remote locations, to the more popular stocked lakes which are managed by the Fisheries Boards or local angling clubs.
