Údarás na Gaeltachta, the
Gaeltacht Authority, is the
regional government agency
with responsibility for the
Economic, Social and
Language/Cultural development
of the Gaeltacht (Irish speaking)
areas of Ireland. The Gaeltacht
areas are located mainly along
the Western and South-Western
seaboards. They cover
substantial coastal and inland
parts of counties Donegal,
Mayo, Galway, Kerry and Cork as
well as smaller parts of counties
Waterford and Meath. The
Gaeltacht off-shore Islands are
Tory and Aranmore (Donegal),
Achill (Mayo), the three Aran
Islands of Inis Mór, Inis Meáin
and Inis Oirr (Galway) and Cape
Clear (Cork).
