The Gaeltacht is the name given to parts of Ireland where Irish (or Gaelic) can still be heard as an everyday community language. The ethos of the Gaeltacht is distinct and different-because of the living language and, in the Gaeltacht areas, Ireland's rich Celtic Heritage and Culture can be experienced in a very different way... This tiny inland Gaeltacht is only 30 miles from Dublin and has the distinction of being created in 1935 by Gaeltacht farming families who were transferred to more fertile lands in County Meath by the Irish government. |
